Widescreen in Android Auto is determined by resolution and dpi mixture, since the resolution is auto-adjusted by HUR, you can tweak the DPI to get the desired effect. Lowering DPI will make everything smaller on the screen, and when it's small enough it will make Android Auto do into widescreen mode, whereas increasing the DPI will make everything larger on the screen.
